Firstly - what an honour it was to be asked to photograph Molly + Paul's Wedding Day. Having worked along side Molly in the Wedding industry for the past few years, it was such a compliment to be given the job of capturing their Wedding! So thank you Molly + Paul for trusting me with your special day.

Their wedding journey was definitely a wild ride. Their original wedding date was postponed back in October 2021 due to COVID lockdowns and restrictions. After all they wanted to be surrounded by their loved ones as they exchanged their vows and celebrate the night away singing and dancing to Cath Simes. Do we blame them?

March 2022 was the new chosen date - far enough in advance that all restrictions on guest numbers, masks and dancing should be lifted and not too long to wait either. Over this time waiting for their new wedding date to arrive we start to experience La Niña (wet weather event if you have been living under a huge rock). As the New Year rolls around we stay hopeful that the rain now will mean it will clear and dry up before March........ how wrong were we.

In the early hours of Monday 28th February 2022, the town of Lismore was hit with severe flooding making it the worst flood in history reaching 14.4 metres. This all happened just 11 days before Molly + Paul's 2nd Wedding Day! 11 days out from another attempt at getting married and they now have just lost their dress and suit that were in getting alternations in Lismore . Paul's family business was also lost in the flood and with absolute devastation (and nothing to wear) around them, these amazing humans pull off the impossible!

Between a flooded dress and a dress that got lost in the mail, Molly ended up in the most beautiful gown from Made With Love Bridal and married the man of her dreams surrounded by so much love and laughter despite all odds. The overcast day meant all the incredible vendors moved the ceremony inside without any issues and worked out to be a beautiful wet weather back up.

The reception was where it was at!!! SOOO much joy, love and happiness twirled and danced on that dance floor - it was just priceless. That for me was a favourite moment and one we all as a community needed. From there the drinks were flowing and the dance floor was full for the rest of the night thanks to the amazing Cath Simes Band and of course the newly married Mr + Mrs!

Sending all my love to Paul's family and to all those affected by the NSW floods.

Warmest

Rach xx
